Introduction

A remarkable musical performance by the renowned KZN Philharmonic Orchestra was recently presented at the Ekhaya Multi-Art Centre. Students in grades 3 and 4 from Ethekwini Primary School were given the opportunity to attend this mesmerizing concert and become engrossed in the sweet sounds created by various instruments. Both kids and teachers agreed that the concert was an extraordinary experience that left a lasting impression.

Investigating the Musical World

The pupils were exposed to a wide variety of musical instruments from many families throughout the enthralling 30-minute event. The String Family produced melodic compositions that resounded throughout the entire auditorium while showcasing the elegance of the violin, viola, cello, and double bass. The French horn and trumpet in the Brass Family offered a regal touch, while the flute, piccolo, and bassoon in the Woodwind Family presented lovely melodies. The concert was energized and rhythmically enhanced by the percussion instruments, notably the drum set, which brought the entire orchestra to life.

In charge of the Symphony

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra was conducted by one lucky student from each grade, which was a highlight of the occasion. The chosen conductors’ faces showed the excitement and joy they were experiencing as they led the musicians through their performance.
